Homework packets: You will notice that the spelling sentences are not in the homework packet this week. We will be working on the sentences in class this week to practice for our new format that will be in the packets next week. Writing: We are finishing up our informational science books this week. We have been working hard to include science vocabulary into our books! I hope to have these on display during our celebration next week on the 17th! Reading: We have been working to lengthen our time reading independently. We have also started to respond to our reading in a journal. These journals are collected on Fridays. This process helps me to check in with each student individually on their assigned books. We have all been working in chapter books this month and next week we will begin small group book talks! Science Soc. St.: We have been working on our health unit for the past week. We have talked about the heart, lungs and bones. We will continue talking about healthy habits this week. We have been working on our communities unit as well! Math: We have completed unit 9 subtraction with re-grouping. We will be working on a review and chapter test this week. Re-grouping is a very difficult concept. Please be sure to look over math papers that are coming home and ask your child to show you what they are working on! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. You can see us reading with our 5th grade buddies, working on a communities game and having a great time doing cosmic yoga! The weather is looking up so I hope to move our daily exercise back outside when we are able!
